Orange-Cheeked Waxbill Finch

SKU: Orange cheek finch

Many could recommend an Orange Cheek Waxbill as an ideal finch! The males like to sing and will vocalize with their high-pitched chirping. Males have different melodies and hens may vocalize a bit, but they will not sing. Orange-cheeked Waxbills are very active and flighty birds and do well in a large flight or aviary. Like most estridids, they are very acrobatic in their movements on twigs and grass stems, "climbing" up and down verticals and hanging upside down while feeding.

Size and weight of adults: about 10cm long and 7-10grams

Diet: A high-quality seed mix blend of white, yellow, and panicum millets, along with canary seed. Live Food/Protein: Crucial for health, particularly during breeding. Small insects like mealworms, maggots, and ant eggs are necessary. Fresh water for drinking and bathing must be provided daily.
